| Off the Wall - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What mediums are eligible to enter? A: All mediums including glass, ceramic, works on paper, sculpture, video, photography etc as long as they can be considered fine art, not craft.
Q: Is there a size limit to work I submit? A: No you can submit anything for judging, but if selected, our walls at the venues are 2.4 m high, so no works higher than this can be accepted.
Q: If I am selected, how many works do I send to you and what are size restrictions? A: There is no simple answer to this as everyone works in different sizes and shapes. -Each artist is allocated a certain space and we professionally install the work. -As works are sold, we replace them with others so there are no empty spaces. -We may also rotate work so it gets maximum exposure. -Each artist is individually consulted with in regard to this and a clear plan is worked out. -As a rule though, a minimum of four works should be available, not exceeding 2.4 metres in any direction. All artists are allocated around 3 linear metres of wall space (2.4 m high)
Q: Are international entries accepted? A: Yes
Q:What is the commission? A: 40% (plus GST)
Q: How do I get my work to the exhibition? A: We will help you sort that out, there are many options. Works are to be delivered to the venue the day prior to the opening. We use and reccommend Grace Fine Art removals.
Q: Do I need to attend the exhibition and who handles the sales? A: The exhibition is professionally manned with experienced sales staff. Artists who wish to be there for the duration of the exhibition to liaise with the public are welcome.
Q: Does my work have to be framed? A: All work must be suitably presented for hanging. We can not pin works on paper to the walls, so they need to be mounted or framed. (editions for backup stock may be unframed). Framed works must have D rings and these must be 10cm from the top edge of the frame or mount). Stretched canvasses are considered framed and do not require rings.
PLEASE only email 72dpi jpegs. All jpeg images must be EXACTLY 500 pixels wide. Images outside these specifications will not be featured on our website, nor will poor quality images. PLEASE label your jpegs with your name and the title of the work.
TIP: Please submit your work on high quality A4 paper in colour printed at 300dpi Please do not print with full bleed, ie image going right to the edges, use some white space around the image to label it. We assess the work from the prints so please take care to present your work well. We need FOUR images on Four sheets, ie one image per sheet.
